Are you ready?

And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the parents to their children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous - to make ready a people prepared for the Lord. - Luke 1:17

Before John the Baptist was even conceived, this prophecy was given to his father, by an angel. John, was given the spirit and the power of Elijah, to prepare the people for the coming Kingdom of God, and Jesus, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Once people realize that the King was arriving, parents would turn their hearts to their children, worrying about how their kids would fare in the eyes of a perfect judge. Sinners would likewise repent of their wicked ways, and seek to lead righteous lives.

Do you realize that the Kingdom of God has come near? We have the privilege of knowing what Jesus has done. Perhaps, you might also have experienced the presence and the power of the Holy Spirit. What excuse would you have before a perfect judge? Let us be ready to receive Him, the perfecter of our faith, joyfully into our lives at any moment.

Dear Lord, please help me to always be ready to meet you face to face with great joy and faith, in everything that you have asked me to do.
